Heads up, Angels. While our podcast is suitable for all ages, keep in mind these episodes were produced in a different era and may include scenes of danger, crime, or themes some listeners may find sensitive or outdated. When doing our rewatch, we do our very best to discuss everything with care, context, and compassion, and always with a love for the show and respect for our listeners. It just is a highlight of my week when we record this. And I am rarely sincere, but I am sincere in that.
SPEAKER_07And if any of you forgot, you're listening to Good Morning Charlie, a Charlie's Angels Rewatch podcast.
SPEAKER_01We should probably note that earlier in the podcast.
SPEAKER_07We'll get it together one of these days.
SPEAKER_01Look, there's no guidebook.
SPEAKER_07What are we talking about today, Chris?
SPEAKER_01We are talking about the killing kind. But before we break this out for everyone, you took a vacation. We talked about that on a previous episode. You were overseas. And if you look at our socials, you'll see where Colby was.
SPEAKER_07We said hello to the uh angels across the pond. Hopefully, um, we'll have some listeners over there as well. It was really wonderful. What was not wonderful was coming back and going to work.
SPEAKER_01Real life sets in. All right, here we go into episode seven, The Killing Kind.
SPEAKER_07This episode's original air date was November 3rd, 1976, which is.
SPEAKER_01Oh my god, Colby, you know that's our nation's bicentennial.
SPEAKER_07I don't know how I know that, but I did know that.
SPEAKER_01Well, I was alive and it was a wonderful time in our country's history.
SPEAKER_07It was produced and written by Rick Husky, a name we have mentioned many times already.
SPEAKER_01He too enjoyed our nation's bicentennial.
SPEAKER_07Directed by Richard Benedict, he is an actor and director. We'll be discussing another episode he directed here in just a few weeks. He also directed episodes of Fantasy Island, Policewoman, The Rookies, Harry O, and Get Smart.
SPEAKER_01Before we get into our plot summary, I'm going to give everyone listening a little teaser. On that upcoming episode, Colby alluded to, directed by one Mr. Richard Benedict. We are also going to have something special, perhaps just on our Patreon, related to that episode. Here's your plot summary. The angels investigate the suspicious drowning of an investigative journalist who uncovered what? Investigative. Did I not say it? I'm leaving this in so everyone can hear how I'm treated. Journalist. And she, through her investigative nature, uncovered corruption at an exclusive resort named Moonshadows. This leads that Angels to infiltrate as a tennis instructor, photographer, and designer, while uncovering the resort's owner is actually a former mobster who's busy building a new empire.
SPEAKER_07The episode opens on a bright white sand beach with a young woman in a bikini. A town car pulls up with two gentlemen inside. A man in a hat leaves the car to approach the woman as the driver named Coslo, played by Joseph Ruskin, looks on. The exchange is immediately heated. The young lady, Miss Anderson, has written a manuscript, the subject of which is Moonshadows. The gentleman, a Mr. Terra Nova, is willing to pay for. Miss Anderson forcefully informs Mr. Terra Nova the manuscript is not for sale, nor is she scared by his threats. Terra Nova retorts he will find her informant inside Moonshadows and find her manuscript. Miss Anderson reveals if anything should happen to her, the manuscript will be sent to the Senate investigative community. Ooh, nope, that's committee. Uh Miss Anderson then flees the conversation and runs into the ocean. I am not going to venture to guess how Terra Nova was prepared for this very specific outcome. He then flashes his cigarette case in the sunlight to signal a diver named Inga, played by Janice Jameson, who is in the water and has been waiting for Miss Anderson. Miss Anderson approaches the sort of swimming dock that's stationed out in the ocean and is pulled under by Inga until she drowns. Already I'm entertained by this episode because who chooses to meet on a beach while you're wearing a bikini to discuss something like maybe potentially dangerous, and your only uh escape is to run into the ocean and swim away.
SPEAKER_01It makes perfect sense, young man. That's where I have.
SPEAKER_07You're absolutely right.
SPEAKER_01That's where I have all of it.
SPEAKER_07Stuck in the ocean makes perfect sense.
SPEAKER_01No, I have all my high-level meetings on the West Coast right there at the Pacific Ocean. Because if you're tired of this meeting or it doesn't go your way, how do you get out of it? Well, it's not difficult at all. You just run straight into the ocean and you're carried away by a current. Done, done, and done. No, you don't even need a no, you just let a current carry you away. You got to travel light when you're having a confrontation.
SPEAKER_07Well, Miss Anderson is hit to that idea and she has run directly into the ocean, unfortunately, to her demise. I'm very, very, very excited about this. So Brooke Anderson is played by Nancy Stevens, a lovely lady that I've had the uh pleasure of meeting. She is in the Halloween franchise and Escape from New York, as well as another spelling connection, 90210.
SPEAKER_01And we love a we love a connection. And let's clarify it, she's the one who just took flight into the ocean and was pulled under. She was not the diver. I realized when we were doing this episode breakdown together, she reprised her role as Marion in both that Halloween H2O when Jamie Lee Curtis came back and it was going to be the be-all end-all. But then when they did the latest trilogy where they erased everything from the first Halloween forward, she came back and she reprised her role as nurse Marion in that, along with hold on, her name's gonna come to me, don't say anything. Kim Richardson, who was a little girl in the original.
SPEAKER_07But you're so close.
SPEAKER_01Is it not Kim Richards? Kim Richards. Kim Richards, Kim Cotrell.
SPEAKER_06I might be ready for bigger boobs.
SPEAKER_01Kim Kyle. Kyle.
SPEAKER_06Well, I'll name this Kyle.
SPEAKER_01Well, you know what? I'm a bad gay and I have not seen everybody.
SPEAKER_07I think her sister's name is Kim. I'm gonna get that's maybe why you're saying that.
SPEAKER_01Wait, wait, everyone stop right now. This may be the most important thing we've discussed to date on this podcast. Now I know Kyle was on The Real Housewives of Something Earth.
SPEAKER_07Of like Beverly Hills or whatever.
SPEAKER_01Well, that would make sense, California. Are you telling me Kyle Richards from Halloween? Her sister is Kim Richards.
SPEAKER_07Lindsay? I think I mean, don't quote me, but yeah, I think so.
SPEAKER_01Do you know who Kim Richards is? Not a clue. The little girl in the Escape from Witch Mountain movies.
SPEAKER_07Really? Oh my god. I am not I'm not sure, but I mean we should look it up.
SPEAKER_01Oh my god. I'm no more good. I'm just Colby, you've got the pod from here. I've got to sign off and take a calmative and put myself right to bed.
SPEAKER_07Well, you take some vivants and uh be right back.
SPEAKER_01If it weren't for the Pyrrin tablets, I don't think I could go on.
SPEAKER_04If it wasn't for the Pyrin tablets, uh I don't think I could go on.
SPEAKER_07Paul Terranova is played by Robert Logia, uh, an illustrious uh TV career. He's known for Scarface, Big, Independence Day, and just tons of television. Wonder Woman, Bionic Woman, Six Mind Dollar Man, Fantasy Island. The list goes on and on and on.
SPEAKER_01You know I'm a big Disney fan. He also provided a voice in the Disney movie Oliver and Company, and he played the main character in the Disney TV miniseries, The Nine Lives of El Fago Baca. Did you know that?
SPEAKER_07I did not know that. I've never seen that.
SPEAKER_01He was nominated for an Oscar in 1986 for Jagged Edge. Get ready. Psycho 2, and you love a psycho movie, Colby.
SPEAKER_07I love Psycho 2. It's a fantastic sequel.
SPEAKER_01It's underrated, definitely. And hold on to your ginger curls. He was in an episode of Alfred Hitchcock Presents. I love him.
SPEAKER_07One more tiny little thing. The episode of Bionic Woman that he is in, he is playing again beside Joseph Ruskin, who works for him in the Bionic Woman episode. Except in the Bionic Woman episode, uh, Logia is a good guy, uh, unlike the killing kind. The angels are in the office, seemingly summoned during a day off by the way that they are dressed.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_07Charlie explains that this case was presented to him by his ex-wife, which is a little tidbit of information we've never been given before. Jill, always being intrigued by Charlie's personal life, comments she wasn't aware that Charlie was ever married. And Charlie reveals it was an experience that helped him learn he is not monogamous by nature. Kelly asks if Charlie has any children, and Bosley interrupts and reminds them, uh-uh, Kelly, you know that Charlie does not like to answer personal questions. The client, George Anderson, who is blind, is asking the Townsend agency to investigate his daughter Brooks' death. Her body was discovered in waters near Moon Shadows, which belongs to a chain of status resorts, a term I've never heard before. Her drowning was recorded as accidental. However, George does not believe that is the case due to his daughter being an investigative journalist.
SPEAKER_01Was their Halloween mask found next to him?
SPEAKER_07Brooke indicated in a letter she was working on a Watergate type scandal. The Watergate scandal, or simply known as Watergate, was a political scandal in the United States involving the administration of President Richard Nixon. On June 17th, 1972, operatives associated with Nixon's 72 re-election campaign were caught burglarizing and planting listening devices in the Democratic National Committee headquarters at Washington, D.C.'s Watergate complex. Nixon's effort to conceal his administration's involvement led to an impeachment process and his resignation in 1974. But with Brooke's death, that information may be lost. Brooke mentioned she was frightened of Paul Terra Nova, and a man named William Dignum was also involved. There is an unknown informant at Moonshadows investigating if Terra Nova and Moonshadows have anything to do with her death, accidental death, maybe murder.
SPEAKER_01So doing some poking about the resort that may be deemed as investigative poking about.
SPEAKER_07Yes, you're absolutely right. The Angels have arrived at Moonshadow. Uh, this is a building uh we're gonna see several many times throughout the series.
SPEAKER_01Several many girls.
SPEAKER_07Uh with their covers, Kelly pulls up and enters the resort as a guest. And for some reason, the production team thought it was really important to insert a dubbed voice of one of the bell hops calling Kelly a Foxy lady.
SPEAKER_01Foxy. I will tell you right now, even in 1976, Colby, which was also our nation's bicentennial, Foxy was already tired. It was already tired.
SPEAKER_07I just, it tickled me during the episode because was this necessary? We've seen Kelly before. We know how beautiful she is. Anyway, Jill is undercover as a fill-in tennis instructor. Dale, another instructor for the resort, tells Jill most of the guests don't care for anyone asking questions. I assume this sort of alludes to affairs. We see the boss's wife, Dale leaves with, who I believe we're going to see in another episode very soon. Jill meets the gregarious Harvey Sunday. Name's Harvey.
SPEAKER_00Harvey Sunday from Phoenix.
SPEAKER_07Who wastes no time at all telling Jill he is the owner of Sunday Zundies, a line of ladies lingerie, and Jill comments on Harvey's personality and has an intuition. Harvey knows a lot about what's going on at Moonshadows. Terra Nova is being massaged by Inga while his team reports they have been running security checks on all of the staff as well as guests in order to discover the informant of Brooks.
SPEAKER_01No, wait, I have a question. This is the same Inga, who's also an underwater diver.
SPEAKER_07Correct.
SPEAKER_01Who drowned Marion from Halloween.
SPEAKER_07Correct. Or let's say who drowned Brooke.
SPEAKER_01From Halloween. Not to be confused from Kim Richards, who was in those Escape from Witch Mountain movies.
SPEAKER_07Not to be confused with Kyle Richards, who was in Halloween.
SPEAKER_04I hope everyone hears how underappreciated I am.
SPEAKER_07The driver we saw earlier went through Brooke's apartment and found an envelope addressed to George Anderson and a document and braille, and that is kind of stalling them from knowing anything that may have been discovered and put in the manuscript. Kelly is lounging by the pool enjoying some sun.
SPEAKER_01Wait, wait, Colby, Colby, Colby, Colby, Colby. Wait, I have to interrupt you. So Kelly is at the pool. I cannot believe you didn't see this. I cannot believe you are the Charlie's Angel's guru. You are the PhD. You run the University of Charlie's Angels knowledge. I cannot believe you didn't put in your breakdown. And I noticed it. Kelly, Jacqueline Smith, is wearing that same famous bikini from the St. Clair fashion launch in Night of the Strangler. You didn't notice.
SPEAKER_07Well, maybe I wanted you to bring it up so you'd feel special.
SPEAKER_01You didn't notice. And I also want to point out, while I've interrupted, the guy who played uh Harvey Sunday is Hugh Gillen. And he was in Psycho 2, which we've referenced earlier. And hold on. Elvira, Mistress of the Dark.
SPEAKER_07He sure was.
SPEAKER_01You did not know any of those things.
SPEAKER_07Right, because I haven't watched Elvira Mistress of the Dark 80 times.
SPEAKER_01Well, then I'm not going to even bother to tell you he was also in Psycho 3 and an episode of Dallas. And everyone here knows I love Dallas.
SPEAKER_07I really like him as an actor.
SPEAKER_01Well, he was in some of your favorite things, and you didn't bring it up.
SPEAKER_07Anyway, let's get back. Well, I win. Kelly, uh, like I said, is hanging out by the pool. She hears on the intercom someone calling for Mr. Terra Nova to go to the lounge. Kelly follows and meets Terra Nova in the cocktail lounge and runs through a list of magazines her work has appeared in as a fashion photographer. Kelly wants to do a photo layout on the Moonshadows Resort. Terra Nova asks Kelly to relax for a couple of days at the resort while he works on getting approval from the board of directors. Kelly attempts to take a picture of Terra Nova and is met with resistance, and her film is taken kind of forcefully. Terra Nova offers for Kelly to have a massage and then requests her room be bugged as soon as Kelly is out of earshot and remark and remarks if Kelly is asking too many questions that her reservation should be canceled, alluding to murder. Now, Sabrina is meeting George Anderson at the request of Charlie at a little red, what would we call this, bungalow maybe, uh, that in the future will become Jill's house. Sabrina is asking George questions about Brooke. Meanwhile, Inga is doing a number on Kelly, who is clearly trying not to squeal out in pain. Kelly asks Inga to remind her of the doctor's name, who was at the table with Terra Nova in hopes of getting a vitamin shot. Inga informs Kelly that Dr. Dignum is not that kind of doctor. Jill arrives for a massage as Inga receives a call, giving Jill and Kelly an opportunity to talk. Jill couldn't get a definite answer out of Harvey about whether or not he knew Brooke. And Jill was also surprised. Harvey seemed to question her as much as she was questioning him. The angels then have a laugh about Sunday's undies. Sure, this guy's for real?
SPEAKER_06I mean, Sunday's undies.
SPEAKER_07And about Jill's tennis date with him later. Kelly asks about Bosley's search of Terra Nova's social security number. Bosley finds the records date back to the 60s, uh, but there's no information before that. His social security number and his wife's are consecutive numbers, which indicates fake identities because consecutive numbers do not happen normally. Kelly then plans to sneak into Terra Nova's office and see if she can find any connection to Brooke. Jill suggests during the cocktail party in the evening, Inga then returns to exact her revenge on Kelly's back and shoulders. Sabrina brings up the second letter Brooke indicated. George confirms the second letter never arrived, and the initial letter must have accidentally been thrown away. I believe he says in the incinerator, like that's a normal thing.
SPEAKER_01To have it a resort, yeah.
SPEAKER_07Uh well no, this dude just lives on the beach and incinerating crap he gets in the mail, apparently.
SPEAKER_01I mean, don't we all have an incinerator, or is that just me because of all my enemies?
SPEAKER_07Moving right along. Sabrina shares with George she searched Brooke's apartment for information that may lead to her death not being an accident, but the search was unfortunately unsuccessful. Sabrina does. Try to comfort Mr. Anderson by letting him know they are working to find a connection to Moonshadows and to find the informant. Jill enters the cocktail lounge at Moonshadows and notices Harvey Sunday is watching Dr. Dignum. She tells Harvey she hasn't been stood up since junior high, and Harvey apologizes and leaves the lounge to follow Dr. Dignam out. Jill approaches the bar and eyes the receipt that has Dr. Dignam's room number on it, room 320. Jill runs to the room and bribes a maid to leave a tennis racket on the doctor's bed. While the maid is in the room, Jill sticks tape over the latch in order to enter the room once the maid has left. And once in the room, Jill searches through the doctor's papers. Jill discovers some pictures of proposed plans to create a marina beside Seacliff County property and a business card revealing that Dr. Dictum is the county planning commissioner. Sabrina leaves Mr. Anderson's house, and then it is revealed the man Sabrina was just talking to is not the real George Anderson. Something I didn't see coming when we met George. Terranova's team are in uh Mr. Anderson's house discussing whether Sabrina believes she met George Anderson and what she knows. They decide to have her followed to get rid of her. And this poor henchman, who looks like about 50, is made to sprint to his car and then, of course, catch up to Sabrina's car. During the chase, Sabrina is reading the license plate number to Bosley. The road is cliffside and is very winding. Sabrina is doing her best to thwart the henchman who inevitably runs off of the cliff and the car explodes in mid-air.
SPEAKER_01It's one of those things, right, where the stock footage and just without even touching an item, the whole car explodes.
SPEAKER_07The 70s were dangerous.
SPEAKER_01Well, those pintos were everywhere.
SPEAKER_07Sabrina learns from Bosley the car is registered to moonshadows. Sabrina then decides to return to the house and check on the person who she thinks is Mr. Anderson. Sabrina sneaks under the house to enter through the back door. And for some reason, when she is at the back door, it is clearly nighttime, even though the sun was up when that car exploded. Sabrina is looking around for clues and hears the front door open. To her surprise, it is Jill and Kelly. Bosley called and told the Angels that Sabrina may need help. Sabrina believes that Mr. Anderson was taken by force due to the state of the house, and there's a smell of chloroform. The angels believe, since the manuscript can't be found, they took Mr. Anderson instead to get that information. The Angels discussed the county planning commissioner, Dignum, and Bosley's research on Terra Nova that concluded Terra Nova doesn't exist, and his real name is actually Gerald Galenti. Galenty was indicted seven years ago for fencing millions of dollars in stolen securities. Galenti was given a deal to hand over information about other syndicate persons in exchange for entering the Justice Department's witness relocation program. Terranova and his wife, or Galenty, were given new identities, hence these consecutive Social Security numbers or sequential, I shouldn't say consecutive, I guess either or. Jill knows it has something to do with the new Bay Marina complex in Seacliff. And Sabrina just happens to know that uh Seacliff has the only remaining undeveloped coastline. The coastline is protected by law that makes the presence of the county planning commissioner very important to Terra Nova's plans. And we are going to take a short break and we will be right back.
SPEAKER_05There are so many balsam products, but this is the one that started it all. Wella balsam. It's the original balsam. In just one minute, it makes your hair strong, shiny, and easy to comb. You love your hair.
SPEAKER_00We're high-class tops on a dangerous mission. Wick nights, don't miss Charlie's Angels. Here on Channel 5, KTLA, Los Angeles.
SPEAKER_01Welcome back, everybody. Colby, if you're you're painting a picture with your words.
SPEAKER_07Oh my now.
SPEAKER_01You are. So let's let's keep this going.
SPEAKER_07It is time for the cocktail party. Jill and Bosley meet while Kelly is seen at the bar. And now I this little conversation between Bosley and Jill bothers me to no end. Bosley is fussing to Jill. His wife packed brown shoes with his tuxedo. Bosley's wife is never mentioned again.
SPEAKER_01Doesn't he even mention he's not married?
SPEAKER_07He many times mentions that he is not married. And later in this series, Bosley has sort of some episodes that it's not that it is important information, but the information is reiterated that he is single. Anyway, moving on, Jill changes the subject and asks Bosley if he knew the man uh Jill saw him speaking to just a few moments ago. Bosley shares it was Harold Stevens, who is a Senate investigator. He entirely worked with roughly a year ago. Jill gives Bosley his alias of Harvey Sunday. She is certain uh Harvey knows Brooke. Bosley asserts he may be looking for the same information that they are about moon shadows. Jill introduces herself then to Terra Nova to give Kelly an opportunity to go through Terra Nova's office. For the first time ever, we see Kelly pick a lock.
SPEAKER_01You know that's a tender topic for me.
SPEAKER_07Well, we're learning a new skill that Kelly has. We've only seen Jill do this so far, and she must have taught it to Kelly.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_07While Jill is talking to Terra Nova, their conversation is cut short by Coslo, who informs Terra Nova, the sheriff confirmed that the car that went over the canyon and exploded was registered two moon shadows. We heard the angels earlier mention that the police were in Terra Nova's pocket. So getting this information maybe is coming before it's released to anyone else. Terra Nova mentions an attorney that they were after, which is sort of very unclear, uh, works for the Townsend agency. Don't know who this like attorney may be. Maybe that was the wrong word to use. I don't know if they meant like detective or police. I don't know, but they say attorney. Coslo reveals that they have Mr. Anderson in the stables, and Inga is trying to get information out of him. Kelly is discovered by Terra Nova while she is going through the files in his office. We see the same tiny tech, the slim camera used again in this scene.
SPEAKER_01It's a real thing.
SPEAKER_07Terra Nova then abducts Kelly after a little exchange. And by this time, Sabrina has joined Jill and Bosley in the lounge, and they are discussing how long Kelly has been gone. Jill and Sabrina then search for Kelly and witness her being led out of the resort to the stables. Fitzgerald, who was just another goon employed by Terra Nova, uh lets him know there is trouble with Dr. Dignum at the warehouse. With this information, Sabrina and Jill split up. Jill is following Terra Nova to the warehouse while Sabrina heads to the stables. Sabrina lingers just close enough to the stables to listen to the group threaten Mr. Anderson. Sabrina then eyes a telephone and pages Bosley. Jill is tailing Terra Nova to the warehouse and finds a way to slip in inside unnoticed. Jill overhears Dr. Dignum shout that things have gone too far and that he is done with this scheme. This change of heart is because Harvey Sunday, or undercover Harold, was discovered following Dignam and was captured and killed. Terra Nova tells Dignum to go back to his office and destroy all of the files. Shockingly, Jill's hiding spot is where they're storing Harold's body. But before she can react, Jill must hide or be captured. Back at the stables, Sabrina stands by, ready to seize the opportunity to confront the group, keeping Mr. Anderson and Kelly hostage. Sabrina pounces, and this gives Kelly the chance to take Fitzgerald's gun and subdue the goons. Sabrina and Kelly explain they work for Charlie Townsend, and Mr. Anderson is going to be okay. Inga attempts to stop Kelly, but is thwarted as Kelly elbows Inga.
SPEAKER_06Sorry, I don't have time for the full massage. Maybe next time.
SPEAKER_07And the way that she elbows her and turns around to look at her is one of the most beautiful shots that we give of Kelly's hair. And I'm thinking that they must agree because this gives us one of the shots in the show's opening credits. It really could not be more perfect. Jill has returned to the stables, and we get a shot of Jill that is also used in the opening credits. She's like pointing at Sabrina and Kelly, but like not knowing which way to go because Terra Nova has showed up. The angels start to hurry as Terra Nova pulls up and opens fire. In order to evade them, the angels must spook the horses with gunfire, causing a stampede.
SPEAKER_01Do you know what the angels do you know a really good thing to do?
SPEAKER_07To spook horses?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but you do it when you're having an important meeting on the beach. So that as you escape and head into the water, you fire a pistol to spook the horses you brought. Mm-hmm. She'd still be alive. Marion from Halloween.
SPEAKER_07Had she only been on horseback, she didn't, she wouldn't have needed to go into the water.
SPEAKER_01Well, she would still be alive, but only until Halloween.
SPEAKER_07And then Poor thing.
SPEAKER_01Can't catch a break.
SPEAKER_07The Angels drive off thanks to Bosley and the police apprehending Terra Nova. Bosley laments there are bullet holes in the car, and Charlie is not going to be pleased. And the Angels cut him off, fussing at him. Jill asks if they can. This we're seeing the car leave, and Jill asks if they can stop at the market on the way home because she's out of whipped cream. And I do not get the joke. It is such an odd line and like not a good joke. It's so weird to me. Anyway, we're at the Townsend agency. Jill is explaining that Harvey or Harold was Brooke's informant, that he and Brooke were trading information about Terra Nova bribing Dr. Dignum, the county planning commissioner, to make the purchase of protected land in Seacliff look like it was legal. Terra Nova discovered Brooke's expose and had Inga kill Brooke and subsequently Harold when uh too much was discovered. Our episode ends a bit differently with Charlie on a boat spending time with his friend, George Anderson, remembering his daughter. I think it's really sweet. Of course, I don't mind a change of pace. I think it also gives us a different look at Charlie. We do hear him, of course, have concern for the Angels, which is really lovely. Uh, but seeing him spending time with his friend who's just lost his daughter, uh, I think was a really good touch for the end of this episode.
SPEAKER_01It did have a nice wrap-up. Here's the other thing I have to say. I I, and I know I'm ridiculous 99.9% of the time, but I'm gonna get serious for a moment because I have some professional experience in this area. The the episode features someone who has a significant visual impairment, and Braille is referenced, and I wanted to touch on a couple of things. This started me on a little mental tangent about individuals with visual impairments, low vision all the way to blindness. And when you think about the difficulty they face, yes, okay, there's braille, so there's reading. And you may think, hey, everything talks to you now. Your phone talks to you, your Google Nest, your Alexa. And you're right. But when you're pouring your coffee, how do you know when to stop before it overflows the mug? How do you read expiration dates on foods? How do you how do you measure ingredients? Colby, how do you know what clothes you're picking out for the day? I wanted our listeners to be aware, every state in the United States, plus DC and U.S. territories, there is a nationwide assistive technology program, or it may be a department, that allows individuals with many disabilities, including low vision, to learn about, try out, get demonstrations, borrow devices, get free training for independent living. And this was due to the Assistive Technology Act in 2004. In fact, I have a friend right now who has macular degeneration. So she is slowly losing her vision, but she's acting fast. She is plugged in with these assistive technology programs, and she is learning Braille, but she's also learning all of these devices that can do the very things I talked with you about. Things we take for granted.
SPEAKER_07That is really wonderful. Thank you for doing a deep dive on that.
SPEAKER_01My pleasure.
SPEAKER_07Are there any other little tidbits that you have for this episode?
SPEAKER_01I'm tidbit free.
SPEAKER_07I was really excited about this episode. Uh, there are going to be other episodes that have Halloween connections, which I'm just as excited about as a Hitchcock connection. Uh, and they're coming up soon.
